Bayern Munich have been successful with several loan deals for young players in the last few seasons. However, they have endured negative outcome in the case of Frans Krätzig. The youngster is struggling for game time at VfB Stuttgart.

Krätzig was part of the first team at the start of last season after impressing Thomas Tuchel during the pre-season. After making a handful of appearances in Hinrunde, Krätzig left Bayern to join Austria Wien on a six-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old left enjoyed a productive loan spell in Austria, making 17 appearances in six months. He scored once and provided three assists during his time at Austria Wein. Bayern decided to keep him in the Bundesliga during the summer and agreed on a loan deal with VfB Stuttgart.

Since Stuttgart was playing in the Champions League, it was a good move for all parties. However, Krätzig has made only four appearances for Stuttgart until now, which amounts to game time of 188 minutes. He has played only once in the Bundesliga this season.

According to SportBild (via iMiaSanMia), Krätzig is likely to be recalled by Bayern in January from his loan spell at Stuttgart. Bayern may arrange another loan move for the youngster during the second half of the season. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)

Krätzig may have to look for a permanent move in the summer

With Bayern close to extending the contract of Alphonso Davies and the presence of Raphaël Guerreiro in the squad, Vincent Kompany doesn’t have to worry about left-back position. Moreover, Adam Aznou is also expected to be part of the first team in the long run.  In such a scenario, Krätzig will struggle to get meaningful game time at Bayern.

The youngster should look for a permanent move in the summer to take the next step in his career. Despite a tough loan spell at Stuttgart, Krätzig can definitely secure a good Bundesliga transfer next summer.

Bayern are also likely to cash in for Krätzig in the summer. They should include a buy-back or first-refusal clause since the youngster has the potential to eventually become a top player.

For now, Bayern’s priority will be to find a club that can offer consistent playing time to the young German defender. Considering his success at Austria Wein earlier this year, it will not be a surprise to see him Die Roten agree a loan deal with the Austrian club.
