The main headline for Bayern Munich players this international fixture was all about the 18-year-old sensation who made his debut for Germany. Lennart Karl came off the bench for Die Mannschaft in the friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana and made a serious impact.
Karl's dribbles shook the opponents out of their boots, and he was a proper threat down the right-hand side. The young star almost got himself a goal and an assist, but luck was not on his side. Nevertheless, Karl has surely left a great impression on head coach Julian Nagelsmann as he will finalise the World Cup squad this summer. It is also worth mentioning that he wore number 25, the same number as Aleksandar Pavlovic on his national team debut.
Other German internationals, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Jonathan Tah and Serge Gnabry, all featured in both games. Tah and Gnabry had their names on the scoresheet against Switzerland, the former with a great header and the latter with an exquisite finish off the through-ball. And Kimmich, as usual, was the consistent player for Julian Nagelsmann's right flank.
Talk about consistent captain performance for Germany, Tom Bischof led the U21 to two big victories against Northern Ireland and Greece to propel them to the top of the EURO qualifying group.
Bayern players had a face-off during the international break
Many Bayern players faced off against each other in exhibitions around the world. The biggest game was definitely Colombia against France, featuring two top wingers, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.
Diaz started and played a decent hour, but could not help Colombia avoid the defeat against a mighty French squad. Olise only came on for roughly 15 minutes after already completing 90 minutes against Brazil and dishing a crucial assist.
Talking about that France vs Brazil match, centre-back Dayot Upamecano saw red after a late challenge on the Brazilian's right-back, which meant he could return to Munich a bit earlier than anticipated.
Josip Stanisic played for Croatia against Brazil and Colombia. Mixed emotions for Bayern defender as his team beat Colombia but lost to Brazil.
Konrad Laimer's Austria defeated Kim Min-jae's South Korea 1-0. This was South Korea's second defeat of the international break. At least the second game was an individual redemption for Min-jae after a terrible game against the Ivory Coast, when they lost by four goals.
Nicolas Jackson found form in his only appearance for Senegal against Peru. He grabbed himself a goal during his 67-minute stay on the pitch.
The biggest winner in terms of collective success this international break has to be Hiroki Ito and Japan. Ito started in both games as the Blue Samurai won by a minimal margin against Scotland and England. What a memorable UK trip for Ito!
However, it was inevitable that there would be some bad news out of the March international break. Bayern talisman Harry Kane suffered a minor injury and faced the possibility of sitting out against Real Madrid in the opening leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.
