Bayern Munich will work on signing a new forward in the final week of the summer transfer window. Despite the 6-0 hammering of RB Leipzig on matchday one of the Bundesliga, Bayern are light in the attack and need one reinforcement after the departures of Kingsley Coman and Paul Wanner.
The defending Bundesliga champions have been working on a deal to sign Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea. The London-based club is not keen on sanctioning a loan deal, while Bayern only wants to sign a forward on loan.
Apart from Nkunku, Bayern have also registered interest in Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese forward is also expected to leave Chelsea before the end of the transfer window. Jackson and Nkunku have been left out of the squad in Chelsea’s first two league games of the season.
Max Eberl insisted on Friday that Jackson is not a topic for Bayern. However, reports in Germany continue to get louder about the Bavarian club’s Senegalese forward.
According to Bild, Bayern have agreed personal terms with Nicolas Jackson. The Bavarian club is keen on a loan deal. They have started negotiations with Chelsea for the versatile forward.
Die Roten are expected to face competition from Aston Villa and Newcastle United for the signing of Jackson. The Senegalese forward has also decided to leave Stamford Bridge after Chelsea signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro for the number nine position.
Chelsea have no interest in a loan deal for Jackson
Like Nkunku, Chelsea have no interest in sending Jackson out on loan. The recently crowned Club World Cup champions want to move Jackson permanently and make way for further attacking signings. They are waiting to finalize the transfers of Nkunku and Jackson before moving on to Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.
Bayern might be open to having a loan deal with an option to buy instead of an obligation to buy. The Bavarian club will hope that with time ticking in the transfer window, Chelsea will soften their stance regarding Jackson and open the doors for a loan exit.
Nkunku has the experience of playing in the Bundesliga due to his successful stint at RB Leipzig. However, the French forward has struggled for consistency due to poor form and injuries in the last two seasons at Chelsea. Meanwhile, Jackson has been a fine player for Chelsea since arriving from Villarreal in 2023.
Since both players can play in any position across the attack, Bayern boss Vincent Kompany will be content with either joining Die Roten before the end of the summer transfer window.
