Bayern Munich will go all out for Florian Wirtz in the next summer transfer window. The German forward is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen next summer. With significant interest from several clubs across Europe, Bayern will have to be decisive early in the summer to complete the deal. Bringing Bayer Leverkusen to the negotiation table is going to be a challenge for Bayern.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayer Leverkusen are determined not to strengthen Bayern by agreeing a deal with them for Florian Wirtz. The Bundesliga champions would prefer Wirtz to join a club outside Germany if he decides to bring an end to his time at Bayer Leverkusen.
Sky Sports also reported that Manchester City have shown concrete interest in Wirtz. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool are also interested in the German international. Bayer Leverkusen would ideally like a bidding war to get a big fee for the 21-year-old forward.
Bayer Leverkusen are not ruling out a contract extension until 2028 for Wirtz. It has been previously reported in Germany that Wirtz and his representatives consider a contract extension at Leverkusen an exciting prospect.
Wirtz will have to push for a move to Bayern
Bayern will have to rely on Wirtz to push for a move to Bavaria in the next summer transfer window. Rekordmeister have already started working on a deal to bring Wirtz to Munich, but there are several hurdles to pass before reaching the final stages of the deal.
Wirtz reportedly prefers a move to Bayern over Real Madrid. However, other big European clubs will also come with attractive sporting and financial offers to convince the German international. It is going to be one of the most intriguing transfers in the summer. Bayer Leverkusen are expected to land a nine-figure fee for Wirtz.
Bayern also have a strong alternative for Wirtz in Xavi Simons on their list of transfer targets for the next summer transfer window. They tried to sign the Dutch attacker earlier this year, but he eventually decided to spend another season on loan at RB Leipzig. Bayern remain his strong admirer as he is likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain permanently in 2025.
There are going to be more twists and turns in the transfer saga of Florian Wirtz. Bayer Leverkusen have made their stance clear, but it doesn’t completely rule out the prospect of Wirtz moving to Munich. Bayern are likely to step up their pursuit in the second half of the season.
