It has been a perfect start to the new campaign for Bayern Munich. They went away at RB Leipzig to win DFL Supercup and start the season with silverware. Die Roten’s Bundesliga campaign started in the best possible way a week later as they put six past Eintracht Frankfurt. Julian Nagelsmann’s men made it three wins in a row with a comfortable victory against Wolfsburg on Sunday.
The attacking unit has been a delight to watch for Bayern. After the departure of Robert Lewandowski, Nagelsmann can field a fluid front four. Sadio Mane and Jamal Musiala have done the bulk of scoring in these three games, while Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller have provided adequate support.
Nagelsmann may miss out on the opportunity of fielding the same front four for the fourth week in a row. Bayern confirmed on Tuesday that Serge Gnabry has been training individually due to a wrist injury he suffered against Wolfsburg. Die Roten has not given a time frame for Gnabry’s return, but he is an early injury doubt for the game against Bochum on Sunday.
Serge Gnabry was substituted at half-time against Wolfsburg due to adductor problems. Leroy Sane came on for Gnabry at half-time as Die Roten expertly managed the game to seal the three points and win the first game of the season at Allianz Arena.
Bayern will be hoping that Gnabry’s injury is minor since he has made a very good start to the season. The German scored in the first two games of the season. He also managed to set up one goal in the 6-1 demolition of Eintracht Frankfurt. Apart from contributing to goals, Gnabry’s overall game has been very promising in these games.
In the absence of Gnabry, Die Roten does have solid options in the wide positions. Sane’s performance against Wolfsburg was encouraging. He may get the chance to build on this solid performance at Allianz Arena by getting a start against Bochum this weekend.
Meanwhile, Kingsley Coman will be available for selection against Bochum. The French winger missed the first two league games due to suspension. The French winger had a very good season last year, so Nagelsmann may give him the opportunity straightaway against Bochum. It is going to be a toss-up between Coman and Sane to replace Gnabry in the lineup.

Leon Goretzka could make his return to the team in two weeks, as per Kicker. The German midfielder has started running on the pitch. He was ruled out for the start of the season due to a knee injury he suffered before the pre-season tour.
