Bayern Munich got off to the best possible start to the new Bundesliga campaign on Friday. The defending champions made light work of a tricky away trip to Eintracht Frankfurt. The last season’s Europa League winners were handed a massive 6-1 defeat by Bayern Munich in front of home fans.

It was a near-perfect performance from Die Roten. Apart from keeping a clean sheet, Bayern got everything right against Frankfurt. They silenced the home fans by scoring five goals in the first half. A perfect evening was rounded off by a sixth goal by Jamal Musiala at the end of the game.

There have been a lot of doubts about Bayern going into the first game of the Bundesliga campaign as they lost last season’s top scorer Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona this summer. Julian Nagelsmann’s men needed a performance like Friday to send out a strong statement across the league as they enter the new era at the club.

The next step for Die Roten will be to maintain consistency in performance for challenges across all fronts. Apart from goals and result, there were numerous positives from the game as all players did their job to a great effect. Let us look at the three big takeaways from the game.
