After completing the transfer business to strengthen the squad, Bayern Munich is now focussing on sorting the future of fringe players. The Bavarian club is actively weighing up options for players that do not feature in the plans of Julian Nagelsmann.

Josip Stanisic is one of the fringe players that is unlikely to leave Bavaria before the end of the summer transfer window. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Stanisic has no plans to go out on loan this summer despite interest from Premier League and Bundesliga. The young defender is hopeful about getting game time with the senior team this season.

Stanisic had started last season in the starting lineup since Alphonso Davies was injured. The Croatian defender ended up making 17 appearances across all competitions (773 minutes of game time). He managed to get a goal and assist for Die Roten last season. His impressive performances with the first team were rewarded with a contract renewal. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)

After making his debut for Bayern, Stanisic also went on to play for the Croatian national team last season. However, his playing time in the senior team at Bayern decreased as the season went on due to the presence of other senior defenders. Stanisic continued to train with the senior team throughout the season.

Stanisic’s primary position is right-back, but he can also play on the other side of the defense. Since Bayern has ample amount of depth in the right-back position, Stanisic’s best bet to get playing time is in the left-back position. Omar Richards left Die Roten this summer to join Nottingham Forest, so Stanisic can provide cover for Davies in this position.

The Croatian defender was an unused substitute in the first two league games of the season. Considering the tight scheduling of games this season due to World Cup in November, Stanisic will be hoping that he will end up getting adequate playing time as the season progresses.

A loan transfer away from Bavaria can be revisited in the winter transfer window if Josip Stanisic struggles to get adequate playing time in Hinrunde. For now, there are good enough reasons for the Croatian defender to stay at Die Roten this summer.
