Bayern Munich will not sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer
Things are heating up regarding the protracted move of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona. The Spanish club made an improved bid for the Polish striker on Thursday, but it remains below the valuation of Die Roten. Barcelona and Lewandowski are determined to make this transfer happen, while Bayern continues to publicly insist that player is not for sale.
The possible departure of Lewandowski from Bavaria this summer has led to several reports linking strikers to Bayern. On Wednesday, AS in Spain reported that Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is a transfer target for Die Roten to replace Lewandowski.
Meanwhile, Record in Portugal insisted that Ronaldo is contemplating leaving Manchester United this summer. Even if he is on the move, it doesn’t look like his destination will be Munich, as per German media outlets.
According to SportBild’s Christian Falk and Sky Sports Germany, Bayern will not be signing Ronaldo this summer. It certainly suggests that Die Roten has no plans to sign the 37-year-old forward even if he is on the market.
Signing Ronaldo will make sure that Die Roten will have to commit a big financial outlay in finances. The Portuguese star is one of the biggest earners in the game. Die Roten is very mindful about maintaining a balance in the wage structure, so signing Ronaldo makes zero sense.
From a sporting point of view, the cons overweigh the pros regarding the signing of Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward continues to score goals for fun, but his overall play is on a steady decline. Bayern will be better served by looking at the bigger picture by signing a young replacement for Lewandowski.
The Bavarian club was heavily linked with a move for VfB Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic at the start of the window. Die Roten even held talks with the Austrian striker’s agent, but for now, the move is on the back-burner. Since Borussia Dortmund is no longer in the race to sign Kalajdzic, Bayern can resume negotiating for him later in the transfer window.

Bayern has managed to strengthen the attack by signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool. The arrival of another forward will depend on what happens with Lewandowski. The Polish striker will be looking to seal a move to Barcelona before the pre-season, but Die Roten is unlikely to provide any discount to the Spanish club. The next couple of weeks will be decisive regarding the future of the Polish striker in Bavaria.
