Jann-Fiete Arp signed a deal with Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 season from Hamburger SV. He made a strong summer impression under Niko Kovac. The young talent played in preseason games as a wide player and striker. Arp was expected to be a signing for the future, but things have not gone as per plans for the young forward.

Arp’s time with Die Roten has been largely dominated by injuries and inconsistency. He was out 90 days in the 2019/2020 season with three separate injuries and an intense sickness that affected his gameplay and was not given many opportunities.

After a good start, the youngster was unable to make a case for consistent playing time in the first team. He was considered to have a lot of potential but was unable to show it on the pitch for Die Roten. The German U-19 International also suffered a torn muscle fiber in February 2020, which brought an end to the unsuccessful debut campaign.

After appearing in one DFB-Pokal match for the senior team in the 2019/20 season, Arp has played in 22 games for Bayern Munich II and has registered just three goals and two assists. He was loaned out to second-tier German club Holstein Kiel in the 2021/22 season following a disappointing stint with the German Champions. Arp is unlikely to make it at Bayern, but finding a buyer for him will be difficult for the German club due to his wages worth €5 million. The deal to sign Arp has turned out to be a poor decision on all fronts for Bayern.
