Bayern Munich is expected to be busy in the summer transfer window when it comes to strengthening the midfield department. The Bavarian club will most likely part ways with two first-team midfielders to make space for the new arrival in the center of the park.
In the past couple of weeks, Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has been reported as the key midfield target for Die Roten. The latest update from the Netherlands suggests that Gravenberch is very interested in joining Bayern as more talks take place with his representatives.
According to De Telegraaf’s Mike Verweij (via iMiaSanMia), Gravenberch is open to being flexible about the wage package at Bayern. The young midfielder is attracted by the sporting project in Bavaria, so he is keen on completing this transfer in the summer transfer window. Die Roten has held talks with Mino Raiola, Gravenberch’s agent, regarding a move in the summer.
Gravenberch’s desire to join Bayern doesn’t mean the transfer will be straightforward. It remains to be seen whether Rekordmeister will fork out the fee in the region of €25-30 million to sign the talented young midfielder. The German club will be looking to bring down this fee since Gravenberch has only one year left on his current deal at Ajax.
Ryan Gravenberch is considered one of the most talented midfielders in his age group across Europe. The 19-year-old midfielder has already played several games for the Dutch national team. Even though he has not been at his best, it will be a very wise move from Die Roten to invest in him.
Die Roten has not lately enjoyed a lot of success when it comes to signing young midfielders. The Bavarian club will have to make sure that they give Gravenberch an ample amount of playing time to fulfill his potential. They struggled to successfully integrate the likes of Renato Sanches, Marc Roca, and Mickael Cuisance in the last few seasons. A much better planning and execution will be needed to make Gravenberch a successful signing.
In terms of departures in the midfield department, Corentin Tolisso is expected to leave Bavaria on a free transfer. Roca is also likely to look for a temporary or permanent move in the summer to get more consistent playing time.
Apart from signing a midfielder, Rekordmeister will also look to strengthen defense in the summer. The defending Bundesliga champions are expected to sign a replacement for Niklas Sule. The right-back position also needs to be addressed as Bouna Sarr is expected to leave in the summer, and Benjamin Pavard prefers playing in the heart of the defense.
