The upcoming summer transfer window is set to be crucial for the midfield department at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club is expected to bolster this area of the squad by signing at least one quality midfielder.

Going by the latest rounds of transfer reports, Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch could be the midfield addition for Rekordmeister in the summer. According to De Telegraaf, Bayern Munich is interested in signing Gravenberch when the transfer window opens in the summer. The Dutch media outlet has also suggested that Rekordmeister has already held talks with the player’s representatives.

The report from De Telegraaf has also been confirmed by Kicker (via iMiaSanMia). Gravenberch’s current deal at Ajax will come to an end in 2023. Since the player is not looking to sign a new deal, Ajax will have to cash in during the summer transfer window. De Telegraaf has reported that Ajax will be looking to get a fee in the region of €25-30 million for the midfielder.

Gravenberch is considered one of the most exciting midfield talents in Europe. He made his debut for Ajax’s senior team at the age of 16. However, it has been a difficult campaign for the teenager until now. He has not been able to emulate the consistency he showed for Ajax last season.

Despite the lack of consistency this season, Gravenberch has a bright career ahead of him. The teenager has already made close to 100 appearances for Ajax until now, which is a tremendous achievement. He has also earned ten caps for the Netherlands and looks likely to play a key role in the National team setup.

Gravenberch will no doubt be a good long-term signing for Rekordmeister. However, the German club has endured a very poor record of nurturing midfield talents in the past few seasons. Renato Sanches and Mickael Cuisance couldn’t fulfill their potential at Bayern. Sanches went on to become an important player at Lille, while Cuisance left Bavaria last month to join Venezia.

It is not entirely Die Roten’s fault for not getting the most out of Sanches and Cuisance, but they surely need to find a much better plan to integrate young midfielders in the first team. Gravenberch is an exciting talent, but he will need patience and adequate playing time at his next club to fulfill his talent. If Rekordmeister is ready to invest time in him, then there is a good chance of this transfer becoming a success.
