After a quiet winter transfer window, Bayern Munich is expected to be busy in the summer. The Bavarian club will have to sign players that will add quality and depth to the squad. Moreover, Die Roten also needs to find replacements for players that will be leaving in the summer for different reasons.

According to SportBild, Bayern has identified three positions to strengthen in the summer transfer window. The three areas of interest are central defense, right-back, and defensive midfield. It remains to be seen whether the club will be able to afford to make all three signings in one window.

The report from SportBild also insists that Die Roten is set to explore signing players that will be available on free transfers. The Bavarian club has made huge financial commitments in contract renewals of key players in the squad. In the coming months, contract renewals of Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, and Robert Lewandowski are likely to be completed before the end of the season.

Julian Nagelsmann has not gone public regarding transfers since arriving at the club last summer. However, SportBild believes that Nagelsmann is worried about Die Roten getting players he wants in the next transfer window since all his targets will cost a lot of money. Nevertheless, the Bavarian club has definitely identified the right positions to improve in the summer.

The right-back position is very crucial for Rekordmeister. They have struggled to completely address this problem in the last two summer transfer windows. With Bouna Sarr expected to assess his future at the end of the season, Bayern will definitely have space in the squad to sign a right-back. Barcelona’s Sergino Dest could be the player for this position as Rekordmeister has been relentlessly trying to sign him for two years in a row.

In the defensive midfield role, Bayern was interested in signing Denis Zakaria from Monchengladbach on a free transfer before he completed a move to Juventus at the end of the winter transfer window. With the possible departures of Corentin Tolisso and Marc Roca, Die Roten will have to look for a quality midfielder that can provide competition to Kimmich and Goretzka in central midfield.

The center-back signing will happen due to Niklas Sule’s decision to join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. The Bavarian club has reportedly identified three players that can replace Sule in the squad next season.

If the budget for transfers is tight in the summer, Rekordmeister should just focus on getting a top-quality right-back and midfielder. They can replace Sule by moving Benjamin Pavard in central defense. The French defender also prefers playing in the heart of the defense.
