The next summer transfer window is set to witness several high-profile players changing clubs on free transfers. Several big players across the top five leagues have decided to run down their current deals, making themselves available for nothing at a time when clubs are struggling with losses due to the pandemic. Bayern Munich will also lose a couple of players on free transfers, but they are also likely to monitor the situation of other free agents. Reddevil25#

According to Gazetta Dello Sport (via TZ), Die Roten is interested in Lorenzo Insigne, and they are keenly following his situation at Napoli. The Italian forward has not agreed to terms with Napoli for a new deal, so he is expected to leave next summer on a free transfer. Insigne has also been heavily linked with a move to Toronto FC.

Insigne has been a top-quality forward for Napoli and Italy for the past few seasons. The 30-year-old forward can on flanks as a traditional winger, but he is also equally adept at playing as a number ten or false nine. He has played multiple roles in the final third for club and country to great effect.

If this move was to take place three-four years ago, then Bayern’s interest in Insigne would have made sense. The Italian is likely to witness a decline soon since he is already 30, so giving him a long deal and big wages will not be an ideal scenario for Rekordmeister. He can surely make an immediate impact, but the Bavarian club is used to making transfer decisions that have served them in the short and long run.

Apart from Insigne, Die Roten has also been linked with Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele. The French winger will be available on a free transfer if he decides against signing a contract extension in the next few months.

Dembele would be a better bosman deal than Insigne despite the former having a dodgy injury record in the past few seasons. The French winger is about to enter the peak years of his career, so Rekordmeister will be able to get much more out of him than Insigne if they manage to arrest his muscle injuries. Both deals are far from ideal, but Die Roten will be better served with the signing of Dembele.

Rekordmeister’s decision to sign a winger, whether on a transfer fee or bosman deal, will largely depend on the future of Kingsley Coman. The German club has reopened talks with Coman for a new contract, so the next few months will give a better picture of their transfer priorities for the summer.

Meanwhile, Corentin Tolisso and Niklas Sule are going to be two senior players from the first team that will leave on free transfers in the summer. There have been no talks with Tolisso regarding an extension, while Sule has reportedly decided against signing an extension after the club started talks with him a few weeks ago.
