The upcoming winter transfer window will be a crucial period for the long-term futures of various Bayern Munich players. Corentin Tolisso is also likely to be busy talking to interested clubs in January since he has just over six months left on his current contract. There is also a possibility of immediate transfer in the winter window for the French international.

According to FussballTransfers, Tolisso is looking to seal a transfer away from Bavaria in January. The French midfielder is attracting strong interest from AS Roma. Die Roten will also benefit from this move as January is the last opportunity for them to get a transfer fee.

Apart from Roma, Tolisso is likely to have many suitors during the winter transfer window. It has been widely reported that Tottenham Hotspurs are also interested in Tolisso, while Juventus initiated contact to sign him last summer before completing the deal for Manuel Locatelli.

Tolisso will be ideally looking for a club that will give him consistent playing time ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Frenchman will prefer a club playing in the Champions League, but consistent playing time will be the utmost priority for him.

From a financial perspective, Tolisso will be better served by moving in summer on a free transfer. He could command a bigger signing-on bonus since the interested club will not have to pay a transfer fee for him.

Nevertheless, it does look like Tolisso is on his way out from Bayern. It is just a matter of when rather than if for the French midfielder. Considering the frequent injuries to Leon Goretzka this season, Julian Nagelsmann may like to keep Tolisso for the rest of the season.

In case Tolisso ends up leaving in January, Die Roten may have to block transfer for one of Marc Roca and Mickael Cuisance. The young midfielders have been heavily linked with a move away from Bavaria in January due to lack of playing time under Nagelsmann. However, Tolisso’s departure will open up more opportunities for one of these two players during the second half of the season.

Considering all possible departures in the next couple of windows, signing at least one more quality central midfielder is the utmost necessity for Bayern. Tolisso has struggled with injuries over the past three seasons, but he has made some valuable contributions during his time in Bavaria. Die Roten will have to find an appropriate player to replace him.
