It has been a positive week for Bayern Munich as the club found a breakthrough in contract talks with Joshua Kimmich. The German midfielder will be an integral part of the squad going forward as he will be penning a new deal until 2026. The contract renewal of Kimmich could lead to a positive domino effect at the club.

According to Bild, Die Roten has resumed contract talks with Leon Goretzka. The renewal of Kimmich is set to influence the decision of Goretzka. Bild confirms that recent talks with Goretzka have been positive, and an agreement could be reached very quickly.

Leon Goretzka has entered the final 12 months of his current deal. Earlier this summer, reports in Germany suggested that the German international has agreed to a new deal. However, the introduction of another agent made things complex. Moreover, Goretzka was also subject to interest from Manchester United.

Despite the speculation surrounding Goretzka’s future, Julian Nagelsmann got enough assurance from the player about his commitment to the club in the initial talks. The German manager has been confident about Goretzka eventually signing a new deal.

More from Bayern Strikes

The contract renewal talks with key players have been a headache for Rekordmeister in the past 12 months. Considering the difficulties they faced with David Alaba, the recent updates on Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are very promising. Getting the future of both midfielders sorted before the start of the season will be a huge boost to the long-term plans of the club.

Goretzka has enjoyed productive three seasons at Die Roten since arriving from Schalke on a free transfer in 2018. His versatility in the last two seasons has made him an even more valuable asset to the team. However, large injury spells have also been concerning, but getting his future sorted before he enters the peak years is a no-brainer for Bayern.

After Goretzka and Kimmich, Die Roten is likely to turn their attention to the contract renewal of Kingsley Coman. The French winger is reportedly unhappy with the offer made by the club. Few reports in Europe have insisted that Coman could eventually leave the club. Die Roten will be desperate to secure his future after the positive growth Coman has shown on the pitch in the last 18 months.

Niklas Sule has also entered the final 12 months of his contract. The German Champions are likely to make a decision regarding his future midway through the next season. Robert Lewandowski is also likely to be in line for contract talks as he enters the final two years of the current deal.
