After intense speculation surrounding the future of Kingsley Coman at Bayern Munich before Euro 2020, things seem to have cooled down until this weekend. The latest reports in Germany and Italy suggest that another Premier League club is showing interest in the French winger.
According to Gazetta Dello Sport (via Bein Sport) in Italy, Liverpool had a bid worth €35 million rejected for Coman since Die Roten wants more than €50 million for him. This report can surely be taken with a pinch of salt since German media has insisted that Coman will be sold only if some club comes up with a crazy offer.
However, the interest from Liverpool in Coman might be genuine. According to Sport1’s Florian Plettenburg, the Merseyside club is interested in the French international. However, he reiterates that Die Roten and Julian Nagelsmann want to keep Coman in the squad for next season.
It has been widely reported that the French international has rejected a contract offer from Die Roten. The French winger also added Pini Zahavi to his entourage, which will further make the contract negotiations much trickier for the German club.

Apart from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with Kingsley Coman this summer. The Red Devils have been interested in the Frenchman for two summers in a row. However, the move to Manchester is unlikely to materialise this summer since Manchester United is reportedly closing on a deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
Coman has been a key player for Die Roten in the last 12 months. After scoring the winner in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, Coman has significantly improved with his decision-making in the final third. After Robert Lewandowski, Coman was the best attacking player for Die Roten last season.
The talks between Bayern and Coman have reportedly reached an impasse. Despite the current state of things regarding the new deal, it will be a huge surprise if the French international leaves Bavaria this summer. Considering the budget is tight for Die Roten, the last thing they would want is to find a replacement for a key attacking player.
Rekordmeister needs to sort contract renewals of numerous players in the squad. They will have to find a new approach where they have more leverage to extend deals instead of allowing players to enter in the final year of the contract. If they fail to reach an agreement with Kingsley Coman next season, then he could leave in a cut-price deal next summer. Avoiding such situations should be the club’s priority in future contract renewals.
