The summer transfer window is going to be unique for clubs across Europe, largely due to the impact of the pandemic on the economy. The presence of Euro 2020 and Copa America during June makes things even more complicated for clubs. Bayern Munich is also facing a tricky transfer window in terms of arrivals and departures.

The German Champions have already clinched the signings of Dayot Upamecano and Omar Richards. The former will arrive at the club after July 15, while the latter will join on July 1. Meanwhile, David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, and Javi Martinez have left the club. Alaba has already sealed a move to Real Madrid, while the other two players are assessing options after their contracts expired at Die Roten.

Julian Nagelsmann reportedly wants to add a right-back to the squad. Meanwhile, there are suggestions in the German media that Rekordmeister will be looking to add another wide player after the loan spell of Douglas Costa came to an end. Apart from the two arrivals, Die Roten needs to decide on the future of these two key players.

Niklas Sule

According to The Athletic, Chelsea is still considering Niklas Sule as one of the options to improve defense for next season. Sule endured a fairly average campaign after missing out on the majority of the 2019/20 campaign due to a serious knee injury. The German defender lost his starting XI place to Jerome Boateng. The arrival of Upamecano will further put doubts over gametime for Sule unless Nagelsmann consistently uses a back three.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Sule due to fitness concerns. Rekordmeister is reportedly unsure about offering a new deal to Sule. In such a scenario, Die Roten needs to make a firm decision about Sule after Euro 2020. The German defender has only one year left on his deal, and the club cannot afford to lose a young defender for nothing next summer.

What should Bayern Munich do?

Sule might think about a new start since his place is not certain in the team. However, Rekordmeister should try to extend his deal due to the expensive market for center-back. The budget is already tight this summer, so allowing Sule to leave doesn’t make sense unless they plan to integrate Chris Richards in the first team.

More from Bayern Strikes

Kingsley Coman

The last few days have seen a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Kingsley Coman. The French winger is reportedly unhappy at the club. Moreover, Die Roten is not ready to meet his wage demands. Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly two interested clubs as Bayern slap a price tag of €100 million on the player.

Coman currently has two years left on his contract. Rekordmeister once again finds themselves in a tricky situation. With good Euro 2020 for France, Coman could see his stock increase before reporting for pre-season training at Sabner Strasse.

What should Bayern Munich do?

Coman has been a key player for Rekordmeister in the last 12 months. He was one of the most consistent players for Die Roten last season. Losing him this summer will be a big blow. Since Die Roten already needs a wide player, sanctioning the departure of Coman will not be a wise move. The German Champions should try to find a middle ground regarding a new contract in the next six months.

Apart from these two players, the immediate future of Alexander Nubel is another question Die Roten needs to answer in the coming weeks. The German goalkeeper is looking likely to go out on loan to get consistent playing time. However, Bayern’s decision on these two players will have big implications on remaining business this summer.
