Bayern Munich needs to address two to three positions in the upcoming transfer window. The German Champions don’t have a lot of money to spend, so they will have to be creative add quality to the squad. The latest report in Germany suggests that wide forward has leapfrogged in the priority list for Die Roten.

According to Bild, Die Roten is looking to sign a winger after the departure of Douglas Costa. This report also insists that the German club could reignite interest in Chelsea’s winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The German Champions have been trying to sign Hudson-Odoi for three seasons in a row. They made three bids for the English winger in January. However, Chelsea was not keen on selling their academy player and rejected bids even though Hudson-Odoi had put in a transfer request.

Die Roten came back for Hudson-Odoi late in the summer transfer window last year. The German club came up with a loan with an option to buy for the youngster. However, Chelsea rejected this offer. Rekordmeister eventually decided to sign Douglas Costa on loan from Juventus.

More from Bayern Strikes

The English winger was part of Chelsea squad that lifted the Champions League trophy in Porto on Saturday. Hudson-Odoi was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win against Manchester City in the Champions League. The 20-year-old forward is still struggling to get consistent playing time at Chelsea after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

Moreover, there have been reports in England suggesting that Chelsea is ready to sanction a loan move for the young English winger. Die Roten should definitely try to sign Hudson-Odoi if Chelsea is open to his departure for the first time in three years. Since Hudson-Odoi was ready to force a move in January, personal terms are unlikely to be a problem for the German Champions.

Die Roten currently has three natural wide players in the squad. Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman are top-quality wingers, but ideally, a good squad should have four options in wide positions, two per flank. Hudson-Odoi can adequately fill this role in the current squad.

From Hudson-Odoi’s perspective, he will be getting decent playing time in Munich compared to Chelsea. It would be a good move for all parties. However, Rekordmeister should try to include an option to make the move permanent. It is a low-risk- high rewards deal for the Die Roten. Nevertheless, this is an interesting transfer to keep an eye on this summer.
