Bayern Munich is right to hold interest in Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.
During the last summer transfer window, Bayern Munich had to improve the attacking department after Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic returned to their parent clubs. The German club did sign Leroy Sane early in the window, but the search for the second winger was tedious.
Die Roten wanted to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea late in the window. However, the English club had no plans to part ways with the young winger. The German Champions had to settle with a loan deal for Douglas Costa. The Brazilian has been decent in limited opportunities this season, but he is not a long-term solution.
According to Goal, Bayern will not go for Hudson-Odoi in January, but he remains a long-term transfer target for the club. Die Roten is doing everything right in terms of not giving up on Hudson-Odoi despite facing disappointment on two different occasions.
Hudson-Odoi finds himself down the pecking order at Chelsea due to a plethora of attacking signings in summer. However, the teenager has shown in limited opportunities that he has recovered physically from the serious injury that he suffered in 2019.

The young English winger has shown a lot of promise in 13 appearances (seven starts) this season. He managed to score three goals in these appearances. Yes, there is enough scope for improving the output in the final third, but Hudson-Odoi has not been given consistent starts to build some sort of momentum in performances. From the perspective of technical ability, Hudson-Odoi has everything to be a top-quality winger. He can hold the width and beat the full-back through dribbling. The English forward can also deliver dangerous crosses in the box. He is also adept at making runs behind the defense, making him a complete package as a wide player.
Hudson-Odoi is quite similar to Kingsley Coman. Having four quality and young wide players will help Bayern to enjoy sustained success for a long time. With more playing time, Hudson-Odoi will also get very good output in the final third, providing Rekordmeister yet another goalscoring outlet in the squad.

Convincing Chelsea to part ways with Hudson-Odoi is the only stumbling block for Die Roten to complete this transfer. It is good to see Die Roten persisting with their interest in the player as there is hardly any downside of not signing a player of Hudson-Odoi’s quality. He has the potential to be a world-class wide player.
