Bayern Munich can now firmly focus on preparations for next season. The record German champions have only one league game left against Augsburg that will take place next weekend. With a new manager at the helm from summer, Die Roten will be looking to add more quality to the squad.

Earlier this week, L’Equipe (via GFFN) reported that Bayern tried to sign Julian Draxler on a free transfer. The German forward’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain was about to end in June, but the French club has convinced him with a new contract offer.

Since Sport1 also confirmed reports from France, there was definitely interest from Die Roten. Moreover, the failure to sign Draxler does suggest that there could be one more addition in the attack during summer. However, this signing could be a cheaper one instead of a marquee name.

Die Roten currently has three strong wide players in Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman. Sane and Gnabry had a quiet season by their high standards, but they are likely to get back to their best next season. Meanwhile, Coman has been a key player for the Bavarian club during the season since he is much more efficient and productive with his decision-making in the final third.

More from Bayern Strikes

Jamal Musiala has been the find of the season for Rekordmeister. The teenager has got a new deal after enjoying a breakthrough season. Musiala is at his best in central positions, but he can definitely play at a good level on the flanks. Thomas Muller is another option that Die Roten can use in the wide position.

During the last summer transfer window, Die Roten was looking for another wide player after completing the signing of Sane. The German champions tried hard to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi but eventually had to settle for a loan deal with Douglas Costa. The Brazilian winger couldn’t impress during the loan spell.

With injuries being uncertain throughout the season, having an additional option in the attack would be great for Julian Nagelsmann. However, the club chiefs have consistently said that there will be no more expensive signings after confirming a deal for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. Hasan Salihamidzic will have to be creative to get a wide forward this summer.

Draxler would have been a decent option for Rekordmeister next season. He has not fulfilled his enormous potential that he showed in Bundesliga but remains a very tidy wide forward. It did look like midfielder will be the only signing after Upamecano and Omar Richards, but this week’s reports suggest that winger could very well arrive at Sabner Strasse.
