Bayern Munich will now start making plans for the summer transfer window with new manager Julian Nagelsmann. The German club has already completed a couple of transfers for next season. However, there is still some work to do as few areas in the squad need addressing in the summer.
According to Sky Sports, Nagelsmann could implement a back three at Die Roten. The German manager has been consistently using this system at RB Leipzig. The left side of the defense will be stacked with options with the imminent arrival of Omar Richards from Reading FC. There are a plethora of options in the heart of defense despite the departures of David Alaba and Jerome Boateng. However, right wing-back could be an area to improve.
According to TZ’s Manuel Bonke, Die Roten is monitoring the situation of Achraf Hakimi. The former Real Madrid wing-back can fit well under Nagelsmann’s system as he thrived in this role for Inter Milan this season. He also did well in that position during his stint at Borussia Dortmund.
Inter Milan has been reportedly in a sticky financial situation, so there is an opportunity to capitalise for Die Roten. However, the newly crowned Italian champions will not entertain low offers for the Moroccan international. Hakimi has been one of the key players for Antonio Conte.

The young wing-back can transform Die Roten’s right flank if Nagelsmann wants to play wing-backs. Hakimi has seven goals and six assists in Serie A for Inter Milan. His decision-making in the final third is immaculate, while defensively, the 22-year-old wing-back is good enough to keep the opposition quiet. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
Rekordmeister currently has two options on the right-back and wing-back role. Benjamin Pavard has been the first choice right-back for Die Roten in the last 18 months. The French defender is conservative while going forward. Moreover, he has previously insisted that central defense is his preferred position.
Bayern tried to add more quality in the right-back position last summer by signing Bouna Sarr from Marseille. The French full-back has endured a disappointing debut campaign due to injuries and poor form. There have been strong suggestions in the German media that Rekordmeister is ready to listen to offers for Sarr.
In case Sarr leaves in the summer, Die Roten will be going in the market to sign a right-back/wing-back. It is going to be an interesting summer ahead for Bayern since they also need an addition in the midfield department, but they have already committed a lot of money to pay big fee for Nagelsmann and Dayot Upamecano.
