Bayern Munich was not active during the winter transfer window in terms of incomings as the focus was on getting players in summer. The German Champions did sanction one departure from first-team Joshua Zirkzee joined Parma on loan with an option to buy. It does look like that option to buy is unlikely to be activated.

According to Bild, Parma is unlikely to sign Zirkzee permanently. As things stand, Zirkzee is expected to move back to Bavaria in summer. The Italian club had the option to sign Zirkzee permanently for a fee in the region of €15 million.

Along with Parma, Everton was also interested in signing Zirkzee. The Italian club eventually won the race to get his signature. Since moving to Serie A late in January, Zirkzee has made four appearances for Parma. All these appearances came from the bench, and he is yet to score or assist a goal.

Since Parma is fighting relegation, it is a difficult environment for a young player that is lacking confidence. The Italian club needs points to stay in the first division, so they are not going to be patient with a young number nine leading the line. In hindsight, a move to Everton would have been a much better solution for Zirkzee.

More from Bayern Strikes

The young Dutch player currently has no immediate future in Bavaria. The signing of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting last summer significantly reduced chances for Zirkzee in the team. The former PSG striker will reportedly get a new deal, so staying at Bayern doesn’t make sense for Zirkzee.

If Zirkzee returns to Bavaria in the summer, Die Roten should look to find a good Bundesliga club as a loan destination for him. Playing in the Bundesliga under a good coach would help him to regain confidence and improve different aspects of his game.

Just 12 months ago, Zirkzee was getting consistent playing time with the first team. He was considered good enough to lead the line when Robert Lewandowski. The Dutch striker also scored some crucial goals for the team last season. His management since summer has been puzzling. To kickstart his development, Joshua Zirkzee needs to choose the right club for a loan or permanent move in the summer.

Die Roten players that have gone out on loan last summer have struggled this season. Lukas Mai has been getting playing time, but the likes of Adrian Fein, Christian Fruchtl, and Mickael Cuisance have disappointed or failed to get playing time throughout the campaign. Sarpreet Singh returned to Bavaria from FC Nurnberg after lack of playing time in the first half of the season. Rekordmeister needs to think out of the box to make better loan moves that will benefit players in the long run.
