The final international break of the season gives coaches to think about the final phase of the season while clubs start planning for the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich has the clarity for summer transfer plans as they have already sealed a couple of transfers, but reports suggest they are planning more arrivals.
According to TZ’s Manuel Bonke, Die Roten is planning to make four signings during the summer transfer window. Two of these four signings are already completed. The club confirmed the signing of Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig, and multiple English and German media outlets have reported that Reading’s Omar Richards will move to Bavaria on a free transfer.
Bonke reported the club’s idea of signing four players might be hampered due to the financial implications of the pandemic. The German club has suffered losses, since the entire season has been played behind closed doors at Allianz Arena.
Midfield looks to be one sure-shot area where Rekordmeister would be looking to bolster in summer. Javi Martinez will be leaving in the summer, while there are question marks over the future of Corentin Tolisso. The Frenchman would have ideally helped in raising funds for a new midfielder, but he suffered a serious injury in February.

Marc Roca is going to feature more next season, but another midfielder could add more quality to the squad as they compete on all fronts. Die Roten has been linked with numerous midfielders in the past few months, such as Florian Neuhaus, Eduardo Camavinga, Denis Zakaria, but all of them would cost a lot of money.
The other position that could be strengthened in summer is a wide player. The German club wanted to add a fourth winger to the squad last summer. They tried to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea but ended up with the loan signing of Douglas Costa from Juventus. The Brazilian winger is definitely going back to Juventus, so that slot needs to be filled in the summer.
Unless there is a big departure, it will be a big surprise if Die Roten splurges big money on two arrivals. They may have to look at the loan market or free transfers to address the required positions in the squad.
Meanwhile, Bild has reported that Rekordmeister has no interest in signing Lucas Vazquez on a free transfer in the summer. Earlier this week, Spanish media had insisted that Die Roten had started talks to sign Vazquez. The Spanish winger is the type of signing that Bayern will have to make to improve the squad without spending a fortune in the summer.
