Bayern Munich has shortlisted three midfielders for summer window
Midfield and defense are reportedly areas that Bayern Munich wants to strengthen during the summer transfer window. The German Champions have taken big strides to improve defense by announcing an agreement with Dayot Upamecano and closing on an agreement for Reading full-back Omar Richards. The focus will now shift to midfield for Die Roten.
According to Sport1, Bayern is keenly following three players to improve the midfield department for next season. The first name on the list is Eduardo Camavinga. The Frenchman has attracted interest from numerous clubs across Europe. Camavinga is certain to leave Rennes in the summer since he will have only one year left on his contract. This report insists that Die Roten’s head scout Marco Neppe has followed Camavinga for some time.
The other two options in this position are from Borussia Monchengladbach. Florian Neuhaus has been heavily linked with a move to Bavaria during the last few weeks. The German midfielder has been consistently delivering impressive performances for Gladbach in the Bundesliga.
Neuhaus’ teammate Denis Zakaria is the third midfielder that Sport1 mentions as Die Roten’s third option to improve midfield options. The Swiss midfielder has been one of the consistent midfielders in the Bundesliga, so it is hardly a surprise that Bayern has him on the list of transfer targets.

One thing is certain from this report is that Bayern is looking for a midfielder that can operate in both number six and eight positions. The German Champions will be parting ways with Javi Martinez in summer, while the future of Corentin Tolisso is uncertain. Both these midfielders provided covers in two separate midfield positions, so Bayern is probably looking for one replacement for them.
Camavinga has been heavily linked with Real Madrid in the past 12 months. Due to his contract situation, his fee will be affordable for Die Roten, but they will have to put in work to convince the player as they did in the case of Upamecano.
Neuhaus reportedly has a release clause worth €40 million, while Zakaria will also cost Die Roten a similar fee. All three midfielders will be in the same price range, so Bayern will have to raise some funds by listening offers for someone like Tolisso to bring a midfielder in the summer.
Camavinga could be the best possible option from the three names mentioned in this list. The French midfielder has eased into senior football at the age of 17. He is going to get even better with time, so it is a no-brainer for Bayern to get him before another big European club comes in.
