Bayern Munich: Three players that will be crucial against Hertha Berlin
By Daniel Garza
Bayern Munich travels to the capital city of Germany to face Hertha Berlin on Matchday 20. Die Roten will be in search of their fifth consecutive victory in the Bundesliga. Their opponents enter this match having lost four of their last five fixtures in the German top flight.
After a complete team effort saw Bayern defeat Hoffenheim on Matchday 19, the visitors will be hoping for a similar performance on Friday. Here are three key players for Bayern in the away fixture against Hertha Berlin.
Thomas Muller
Muller has been a key player for Bayern during their four-match winning streak in the Bundesliga. The attacking midfielder has scored four goals and registered one assist in his last four appearances. Against Hertha Berlin, Muller will have the opportunity to continue his impressive form.
The home side has conceded three goals or more in each of their last three matches. With their backline struggling to hold clubs at bay, there should be high-quality opportunities for Muller to score on Friday.

Jerome Boateng
Boateng is another player who has performed very well during the winning steak. The center back scored his first goal of the season against Hoffenheim last Saturday and has been a part of Bayern’s recent clean sheets against Schalke and Augsburg. Against Hertha Berlin, Boateng will likely be tested by striker Krzysztof Piatek. The Polish striker has scored five goals for Hertha Berlin this season in the Bundesliga. If Boateng can help prevent Piatek from getting in behind the backline then Bayern should be able to keep the home side quiet in terms of scoring goals.
Robert Lewandowski
The star striker continues to score goals at an impressive rate. Lewandowski has scored in nine consecutive Bundesliga fixtures and a goal against Hertha Berlin would make it a double-digit match streak. When these clubs first met this season in October, Lewandowski produced an incredible performance by scoring all four goals for Bayern in their 4-3 victory. In total, the Polish striker has scored seven goals in his last three Bundesliga appearances against Hertha Berlin.
On Friday Lewandowski could very well put multiple goals into the back of the net once more against Hertha Berlin. The hosts have struggled in recent weeks when they have faced some of the Bundesliga top goal scorers. They allowed Eintracht Frankfurt’s Andre Silva and Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramaric to both record braces in recent defeats. It won’t get any easier on Friday as they will have to face the best goal scorer in the league.
