Bayern Munich: Three key stats from 4-1 home win against Hoffenheim
By Daniel Garza
Bayern Munich were able to reverse the scoreline on Hoffenheim from their first meeting of the season. After losing 4-1 on Matchday Two to Hoffenheim, Bayern defeated their opponents 4-1 at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 19.
It was a complete team effort from Die Roten as they received goals from four different players. Bayern will remain atop the Bundesliga table with a seven-point advantage over RB Leipzig entering Matchday 20. Here are three key stats from the victory over Hoffenheim.
Limiting turnovers
Bayern were dispossessed 24 times in their first meeting of the season with Hoffenheim. Those turnovers led to opportunities for Hoffenheim and it ultimately played a role in Bayern losing 4-1. This time around, Die Roten were much more careful in possession as they were dispossessed just 10 times on Saturday.
There was a significant difference between the two fixtures in the midfield. The Bayern midfield were dispossessed eight times when they faced Hoffenheim in September and on Saturday they were dispossessed just once. Marc Roca and Joshua Kimmich were fantastic in the midfield as they rarely gave away possession to Hoffenheim. Kimmich was dispossessed four times in the September match but he was not dispossessed a single time in the second meeting of the season.

Lewandowski the provider
While Robert Lewandowski is clearly best known for his goal-scoring ability, the striker has been producing assists as well this season. His assist on Thomas Muller’s goal was his sixth assist of the Bundesliga campaign.
In every match that Lewandowski has assisted in this season, Bayern has gone on to win. If Lewandowski continues to produce assists at his current rate, then he will register a career-high for assists in a single domestic season. Lewandowski really can do it all when it comes to scoring and setting up goals.
Fewer opportunities for Kramaric
Andrej Kramaric has been Hoffenheim’s best player this season and the forward scored twice when Hoffenheim defeated Bayern in September. Against Bayern on Saturday, Kramaric did not have as many high-quality scoring opportunities come his way.
The Croatian striker had a total of three shots which was far fewer than his seven shots he recorded in the September match. Despite Kramaric still managing to score in this match, the Bayern backline did well to limit his opportunities in the second half. Limiting Kramaric’s opportunities certainly helped Die Roten earn a comfortable win in the end at home.
