A possible starting XI Hansi Flick could choose for Bayern Munich’s clash against Red Bull Salzburg.

Bayern Munich has a chance to get back to winning ways on Wednesday after hitting a mini bump against Werder Bremen on Saturday. Die Roten was held at Allianz Arena by Bremen. They will be looking to start another winning run when they host Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The previous meeting between these two sides took place before the last international break. Die Roten did come back home with three points after a 6-2 win in Austria, but the scoreline was flattering for them. The home side created a lot of problems for Die Roten, and the game was tight until the final 10-15 minutes of normal time. Let’s have a look at the possible lineup that Flick could field tomorrow.

Who is available for selection?

Lucas Hernandez is a doubt for this game after picking up a minor injury against Werder Bremen. Hansi Flick is hopeful that he will make the bench tomorrow. The German manager did rule out Bouna Sarr for the game against RB Salzburg as he continues to recover from a muscular injury.

Alphonso Davies did give the club some sort of good news as he started light training on the pitch. He still needs a lot of time to be completely fit, though. Corentin Tolisso will also miss this game as he is recovering from an injury that he suffered during the international break. Niklas Sule was back in training after missing the game against Bremen. Joshua Kimmich remains the long term absentee for Die Roten.

Predicted Starting XI

Alexander Nubel is likely to get a chance to make his Champions League debut for Bayern in the last two group games if the team manages to beat Salzburg tomorrow. For now, Manuel Neuer will keep his spot in the goal after a remarkable performance against Bremen on Saturday.

Two left-backs are currently injured or not match fit for this game, so David Alaba is likely to play in his old position. Sule should partner Jerome Boateng in the heart of the defense. The back four will be completed with Benjamin Pavard on the right side. The French defender should have ideally started on the bench after playing three games in a row for club and country, but Sarr is injured at the wrong time.

Flick is likely to stick with two midfield players rather than having one holding midfielder. Die Roten looked very vulnerable on the counter against Bremen when there was only one midfielder to shield the back four. The obvious midfield selection is Leon Goretzka. For the second position, it is going to be a toss-up between Marc Roca and Javi Martinez. Since Martinez played on Saturday, Roca might get first start in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Next. Lewandowski can stay beyond his contract at Bayern Munich. dark

The attacking midfielder or the number ten is likely to be Thomas Muller. On the flanks, Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane should return after coming off the bench against Bremen. Robert Lewandowski will be looking to add to his goal tally for the reason while leading the line for Die Roten on Wednesday.
