Bayern Munich: Three things to watch against FC Köln
By Daniel Garza
Three things to watch as Bayern Munich hit the road to take on FC Köln on matchday six.
A successful run of form has lifted Bayern Munich back into the top places in the Bundesliga. They will take a three-match winning streak in the German top-flight into matchday six. Their opponents on matchday six will be a club looking to register their first win of the season. FC Köln has yet to record their first victory of the season and will be looking to shock Bayern at home with a win. Here are three things to watch for ahead of Saturday’s match.
More goals from Lewandowski
It’s been a terrific start to the season for Robert Lewandowksi. The Bayern striker has scored 10 goals in his first five Bundesliga appearances of the 2020/21 campaign. He has already set a tremendous pace to start off the season and has three performances of two goals or more. Against Köln, he should be a threat to score more goals. Köln has conceded 12 goals to Lewandowksi during his time in the Bundesliga.
If Lewandowski can register another multi-goal performance then it will continue to set him on pace to set a Bundesliga record for most goals scored in a single season. He needs 41 goals to set a new record and he is well on his way to that accomplishment. This match could see him further increase his goal total.

Sane to start?
Leroy Sane has not started a match for Bayern since returning from a brief absence due to an injury. The German winger may get his chance to start against Köln as Bayern will be looking to use its depth with another UEFA Champions League match upcoming.
Sane scored a fantastic goal against Hoffenheim on matchday five and can continue his strong start to this season on Saturday. He shined against Schalke and a similar performance against Köln should help lead Bayern to all three points on the road.
Köln’s struggles against Bayern to continue?
It’s been a very long time since Köln last defeated Bayern. All the way back in 2011 was when Köln last won against Bayern. Based on their performances so far this season, it’s hard to see this being the year that Köln finally end their winless streak against Bayern.
Die Roten have not lost since the defeat to Hoffenheim on matchday two and are firing on all cylinders entering this fixture. It’s going to take a massive performance from Köln if they are to finally defeat Bayern.
