Xabi Alonso lauds Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich
Alonso heaps praise on Bayern Munich midfielder Kimmich.
Over the course of the entire season, Joshua Kimmich has been regularly stressing on the goal of winning the Champions League with Bayern Munich. The German international achieved that assisting the winner against Paris Saint-Germain last Sunday.
It has been a remarkable season for Kimmich in the central midfield. He was given the opportunity to play in his favoured position after the German club couldn’t complete a deal to bring a holding midfielder. Moreover, Benjamin Pavard was also well equipped to play in the right-back position.
Kimmich sealed the number six position by delivering consistent performances every weekend. His output on the right flank was missed, but he provided Die Roten more control in games by dictating the play in the center of the park.
In the knockout games of the Champions League, Kimmich had to move back in the right-back position due to an injury to Pavard. He didn’t let the club down by delivering emphatic performances in the four CL games, scoring once and creating three goals. Xabi Alonso, Kimmich’s former teammate in Bavaria, has been impressed by his performances this season. While speaking to SportBild, the Spaniard insisted that Kimmich can walk into any team in the world.
"“He learned incredibly quickly. Joshua Kimmich has found his role and has reached maturity. He is at a level that allows him to play in any team in the world.”"

Kimmich is probably the best utility man in Europe. He excels in right-back and midfield positions and can do a fairly good job as a central Defender. The German international is likely to get better as he is yet to enter the peak years of his career.
In the upcoming season, Kimmich is likely to continue playing in the midfield. The German champions are looking to sign a right-back this summer to provide cover for Pavard. A new arrival in this position will mean that Kimmich will have to play in the defense only when there is an injury crisis.
Along with being consistent with his performances, Kimmich has also become a clutch goalscorer for the team. He has scored some big goals this season, including the winner against Borussia Dortmund in June and winner against Schalke in DFB Pokal quarter-finals. In European games, he tends to save his best against top clubs.
Kimmich is the future of the German national team and Bayern Munich. He is also a tremendous leader on the pitch. His passion rubs off on the team. If he continues to improve as a player, then he will end up becoming the club captain once Manuel Neuer hangs up his boots for both club and country.
