Bayern Munich gets the nod from Inter for negotiations to sign Ivan Perisic.

Since football leagues across Europe are gearing up to resume, there will be an update about the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich is expected to be busy in summer as they look to improve their squad. The German club also has to decide on the future of Ivan Perisic.

Perisic arrived at the club on a one-year loan deal last summer. The German club had an option to sign him permanently for a fixed price. However, the club is yet to take up the option as they focus on completing the 2019/20 campaign.

Die Roten reportedly wants to sign Perisic permanently, but the club is yet to make a final decision on his future. The Croatian winger has just returned from injury after being out of action since February due to a training ground injury.

With the ongoing pandemic, the transfer market is set to be affected. The prices may come down for players as the clubs struggle due to financial losses. In such a scenario, Die Roten may have the opportunity to sign Perisic for a lower transfer fee. Speaking to Sky Sport, Piero Ausilio, Inter Milan’s Sporting Director, confirmed that they would be open to negotiating the buy back option.

"“We’ve a gentlemen agreement with Bayern Münich for Ivan Perisic, our relationship with them is so good so we can negotiate about his buy-back clause on next weeks.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Ivica Olic, former Bavarian and Perisic’s compatriot, told T-portal that Rekordmeister is pleased with the 31-year-old winger. He predicts that both clubs will soon sit down to discuss a lower transfer fee. Die Roten decided to sign Perisic after they failed to complete the signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City last summer.

The Croatian winger had enjoyed a fairly decent campaign till he suffered a serious injury in February. In 25 appearances across all competitions, Perisic has managed to contribute to 11 goals. Perisic can be a very solid squad option due to his versatility. Even if the club finally completes the signing of Sane this summer, the Croatian will have a big role to play next season. It is a sensible move from the club to make his stay permanent as they get a high-quality squad option for a reasonable transfer fee.

Meanwhile, Philippe Coutinho is unlikely to have the same fate as Perisic in Bavaria. The club has passed on the option to sign him permanently, but the latest reports in Spain hinted that he could stay one more year on loan in Bavaria.
