Nelson Semedo

Bayern looked at Spain to sign a right-back in the winter transfer window. The club decided to sign Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid on a six-month loan deal. However, the Spanish full-back is yet to get consistent starts under Hansi Flick, ruling out a permanent deal in June.

Die Roten can go back to Spain to find a perfect replacement for Odriozola, focusing on Real Madrid’s archrivals- Barcelona. Nelson Semedo can turn out to be a perfect candidate for the Bavarians to fill the right-back slot.

The Portuguese full-back is yet to establish himself a regular at the Catalan club. Semedo is not adventurous while going forward, but he is composed on the ball. The 26-year-old boasts a healthy 88.6 percent pass completion this season. Moreover, he also has a high success ratio in winning duels every game. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)

Semedo currently has two years left on his current deal. Barcelona reportedly rejected offers for him last summer, but the contract situation may force them to change their stance this year. Semedo is better than Pavard while going forward, so his arrival will surely improve Die Roten’s right flank. Moreover, different options in the right-back department will allow Hansi Flick to be tactically flexible.
