Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 Bayern Munich

The game between Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern at the start of November turned out to a crucial juncture of the season. Die Roten were struggling to stitch a winning run ahead of a tricky away game against Frankfurt.

The visitors endured the worst possible start as Jerome Boateng was sent off after ten minutes due to a rash tackle. After going a man down, Die Roten quickly conceded two goals. Robert Lewandowski scored one before half-time, but the team collapsed in the second half.

Bayern went on to concede three more goals in the second half, making it their heaviest Bundesliga defeat in ten years. There were growing concerns about Niko Kovac’s future from the start of the season, but this result surely put the final nail in the coffin for him.

The defending Bundesliga champions reportedly wanted to give Kovac a few more games before deciding his future. However, in a sudden turn of events, Kovac parted ways with the club after this defeat. Kovac surely deserved more time after his debut campaign, but the poor results just made it difficult for him to continue. After Kovac’s departure, Die Roten handed over the reins to Hansi FLick for the next couple of games.
