Benjamin Pavard

Benjamin Pavard was the other central defender that arrived in Bavaria last summer. The Bundesliga club had announced the arrival of Pavard in January itself. Pavard completed the final details and signed a long-term contract in July.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Bavaria since shining for France in the 2018 World Cup. Pavard finally got the move a year later. He has hardly put a foot wrong since moving to Bavaria, becoming a crucial part of the starting XI straight away.

Pavard has been playing regularly for Die Roten this season. He was signed to play in central defense, but much of this season has seen him playing in the right-back position. The Frenchman has been consistent in this position, but there is still a lot of scope of improvement while going forward. He is likely to play as right-back regularly due to Joshua Kimmich’s success in central midfield.

Apart from a handful of games, Pavard has guaranteed a 7/10 performance every weekend. He has featured in 34 games across all competitions, contributing to five goals this season. Pavard can still become a much better and important player for Die Roten, but the start has been ideal for the Frenchman. (Stats Courtesy: Whoscored)
