Alejandro Grimaldo

Another full-back from the Portuguese League. Alejandro Grimaldo was considered one of the most talented defenders to come up from La Masia in Barcelona. However, things didn’t work out for Grimaldo at the Catalan club, and he moved to Benfica in 2016.

The Spanish full-back has developed steadily at the Portuguese club in the last four seasons. His performances have not gone noticed as he has been heavily linked with a move away from Benfica to top clubs of other Leagues in Europe.

Grimaldo can strike the right balance between attacking and defending as a full-back. The Spaniard is composed on the ball and can execute dangerous passes in the box. Injuries have been a concern for Grimaldo in the past three seasons, but he remains an important player for the Portuguese side whenever he is fit.

The 24-year-old full-back has six assists to his name in Liga NOS this season. Grimaldo has all the tools in his arsenal to become a top full-back in Europe. His current deal is set to expire in 2023, so the negotiations will be a bit tricky for Die Roten, but they will surely have the left-back position sorted for a decade with Grimaldo and Davies.
