Bayern Munich are likely to complete the signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City in summer rather than the winter transfer market.
The winter transfer is two months away, but the transfer rumours have already begun. Bayern Munich rarely does business in January. The last January signing for the club was that of Sandro Wagner from Hoffenheim in 2018.
Die Roten have been heavily linked with January move for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane. Uli Hoeness had previously insisted that the club may revive interest in the German forward in January after a failed transfer last summer.
However, the latest reports from England suggest that Bayern will have to wait till summer for Sane. According to the Daily Telegraph, a summer move to Bavaria is more likely due to Sane’s injury problem. The German winger suffered a serious knee injury at the start of the season, ruling him out for at least six months.
This report also insists that Sane’s teammates at City are convinced that he is set to leave the club in summer and join Bayern. Manchester City is already preparing contingency plans to improve their attack as Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal is being touted as the replacement for Sane.

Rekordmeister will be able to sign Sane for a lesser price this summer due to his contract situation at Man City. The English club and forward hit an impasse in the negotiations for a new contract. As things stand, he will enter the final year of his contract with Man City at the start of next season.
The German media outlets reported last month that Bayern had already initiated contact with Sane’s representatives. These reports also claimed that Sane remains interested in moving to Bavaria. The German winger has enjoyed success at Man City but has been used sporadically by Pep Guardiola last season.
Bayern may try to sort out this transfer before the end of the campaign. They followed the same procedure for Lucas Hernandez this year to avoid competition from other top clubs. Sane is currently ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation, but Bayern will be hoping that Man City give him more recovery time to prevent relapse in this injury.
Sane’s arrival will be a huge boost for Die Roten. They still have issues in the wide areas of the attack. Sane is probably the best solution to this problem. This transfer is unlikely to be straightforward, so I expect more twists and turns in this saga.
