Hasan Salihamidzic is set to be promoted to board at Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich is set to reward Hasan Salihamidzic with a promotion to the board at the end of 2019/20 season.
There are going to be numerous changes at Bayern Munich in the next few months. The German club is set to bid farewell to Uli Hoeness this weekend. Hoeness is set to step down as the president of the club after serving in the club’s administration for more than 40 years.
While Hoeness is set to be the major departure, there are going to be some new addition to the leadership group of the club. Oliver Kahn is set to join the club at the start of 2020, while Herbert Hainer is likely to replace Hoeness in the president role.
Bayern Munich announced another major change at the board level on Monday. The club is set to extend Hasan Salihamidzic’s contract, which was set to expire at the end of the current campaign. Along with a new contract, he is also going to be promoted to the board on 1 July 2020.
Salihamidzic has been the Sporting Director at Bayern for the past two seasons. He was appointed as the successor of Matthias Sammer in 2017. While talking at the Dopple-pass (via TZ) on Sunday, Hoeness had heaped praise on Salihamidzic for the work he has done in the last two seasons.
"“Large parts of the round have been disrespectful about Hasan. He has done a good job. The signings Pavard, Hernandez, and Davies were his hard work. He has been fully integrated into all decisions.”“Hasan gets off too much in the public eye, I think it’s outrageous how they talk about him, and Bayern will have a lot of fun with him.”"

Salihamidzic has been under public scrutiny throughout the last two seasons. The former Bayern player was criticized for the club’s slow movement during the summer transfer window. However, Salihamidzic has been always calm about this criticism and insisted that the squad planning at Die Roten is coming along smoothly.
The failed transfers of Leroy Sane, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Timo Werner are some of the downsides of the recruitment under Salihamidzic in the last two seasons. However, he has also managed to get some of the best deals for the club. Leon Goretzka and Alphonso Davies are the prime examples of Bayern’s good work in the market under Salihamidzic.
Apart from transfers, Salihamidzic has been heavily involved with the other matters of the first team. He is found in the dugout for every game. David Alaba publicly praised him for the positive impact he has made in the last two seasons.
There have been ups and downs for Salihamidzic at Bayern in the past two seasons. His inclusion in the board will divide opinions amongst fans. However, Salihamidzic has more than enough credit to his name to get a contract extension for the Sporting Director role. His job is now to improve the first-team squad so that the German champions become a force in the Champions League.
