Bayern Munich sporting director is pleased with the way the squad is shaping up for next season.

It has been a strange summer transfer window for Bayern Munich. The German club was expected to use an aggressive approach to solve the problem positions in the squad. Instead, they are still playing the waiting game as the deals for their primary transfer targets are complicated.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness are confident that Die Roten will be much stronger next season. The veteran duo believes that signing top players in this transfer market is difficult due to the inflation of the transfer fees.

Hasan Salihamidzic has been subject to criticism ever since he took up the role of Sporting Director in 2017. In a press conference on Friday (via Sky Sports), Salihamidzic insisted that he is not feeling pressure right now as he is confident about the transfers. He further added that the squad panning at Bayern is going well and the current squad has the perfect blend of players.

"“It’s not a problem for me, we still have a lot of time and work on some things, I do not feel any pressure. Strengthening our team means getting something special.”“The idea of squad planning is to have flexible players that work in multiple positions, which means great responsibility and appreciation for every player, every player has the right to play, and we have always been right in the last few years.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

The average age of the Bayern squad will come down this summer due to departures of numerous senior players. There will be big responsibility on younger players to deliver consistent performances next season. The likes of Niklas Sule and Joshua Kimmich will emerge as the young leaders in the dressing room.

Salihamidzic also spoke about the departure of Mats Hummels. He believes that the final outcome was best for all parties and there is no bad blood between the player and Die Roten. Hummels chose to leave Bayern and join Borussia Dortmund in order to get regular gametime next season. It is looking unlikely that Bayern will sign a replacement for him, despite the reports linking the club with Hoffenheim’s Kevin Vogt.

The club’s sporting director also gave his opinion on Jerome Boateng as the future of German defender in Bavaria looks bleak.  Salihamidzic insisted that Boateng might stay as he has two years left on his contract and he has been training really well in past one week. The German defender has been advised by Hoeness to find a new club, but he is ready to fight for a place in starting eleven next season.

Bayern Munich quickly sorted their defensive issues by signing Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez. Salihamidzic will be hoping that the problems in the attack are also solved soon as the club is eagerly waiting for Leroy Sane’s decision. The recent update from SportBild suggests that Bayern is optimistic about completing this transfer. The Bundesliga champions should try to make at least two signings before the deadline day in September.
