Serge Gnabry has heaped praise on Robert Lewandowski as he continued his red hot form for Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund. This victory was accompanied by an improvement in the performance of the German champions. However, Rekordmeister remains four points behind Borussia Monchengladbach in the league table.
The performances have been inconsistent for Die Roten throughout this season, but Robert Lewandowski’s exploits in front of the goal have been a constant. The Pole played a crucial role in Bayern’s win against Dortmund.
Lewandowski bagged a brace against his former club, making it 23 goals for the season across all competition. He has been the best forward in Europe this season due to his consistency in front of the goal, averaging more than a goal in each game.
Bayern players have been singing praises of Lewandowski throughout this campaign. Saturday was no different. While speaking to Bundesliga.com, Serge Gnabry insisted that Lewandowski is in the form of his life.
"“We’re very lucky to have him up front,”“He’s in the kind of form that I think nobody has seen before, so it’s good for the team and especially for him. We’re all very pleased with him and hopefully after the international break he can continue this form.”"

Lewandowski’s form can be attributed to the clarity around his future at the club. He was agitating for a move away from Bavaria last summer, but Bayern were in no mood to allow their talisman to leave the club. The German club amended their relationship with the forward by publicly defending him from criticism from former players.
The Polish striker got his head down after failing to get a transfer last summer and scored more than 40 goals across all competition. As the season went on, Lewandowski kept on insisting that he is much more settled at the club right now. He remained open to ending his career in Bavaria, hinting towards a contract extension.
Bayern completed the formality and extended his contract at the start of this season. The Pole will now surely see out remaining of his prime with Die Roten. Apart from the clarity regarding his future, Lewandowski has made some subtle changes to his style of play that has made him more lethal in the final third.
The Polish striker now works hard for the team by getting more involved in the build-up play. Moreover, Lewandowski is working hard on his fitness as he remains determined to play at the top level for at least four more years. He will surely go through a rough patch, but he is more equipped this time around to get through it, unlike previous seasons.
