After a memorable weekend for Robert Lewandowski, Alphonso Davies hails the striker as one of the most humble players at Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich got back to winning ways in the Bundesliga on Saturday after dropping points against Hoffenheim and Augsburg. The defending champions had to work hard to take all three points against Union Berlin.

Robert Lewandowski’s goal against Berlin eventually turned out to be the winner for Bayern. The Polish striker became the first player to score in the first nine gameweeks of a Bundesliga campaign. It was also his 19th goal of the season across all competitions.

Lewandowski went one level up this season as he can find the back of the net every season. He is on track to score more than 50 goals across all competitions this year. The Poland international has been by far the best forward in Europe this season.

Alphonso Davies is pleased to have a teammate like Lewandowski. Speaking to Bundesliga.com after the win on Saturday, Davies admitted that the Polish striker is a phenomenal trainer and most humble player he has seen.

"“As you can see, Lewandowski is scoring goals and that’s what you want as a striker.”“I think he’s an outstanding player and there’s not much to be said about him that’s not been said already. As a teammate, he’s humble and wants to work hard. Every day in training he’s always doing something extra to improve his game.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Lewandowski has been consistently scoring at a good rate for Bayern over the past four seasons. However, this year, it has been a Lewandowski 2.0 as he looks more hungrier than ever in the final third. Moreover, his contribution to the build-up play has been impressive, showing that he is eager to create chances for his teammates.

The clarity regarding his future is likely to be one of the main reasons behind his sublime form this season. Lewandowski was agitating for a move away from Bavaria last summer, but Bayern stood firm and didn’t entertain any offers for him. The club and player sorted the problems between them over the last 12 months.

Lewandowski admitted that he feels settled at Bayern and went on to sign a contract renewal in August. The Polish striker is open to finishing his playing career at Die Roten. He is working hard on his fitness to keep on playing at the top level for at least four more years.

Bayern Munich will be hoping that Lewandowski keeps up this form throughout the season and help them to end their Champions League drought. Lewandowski is yet to get a Champions League winners medal, so he will be hoping to make this season as Bayern’s year in Europe’s elite competition.
