Ivan Perisic will be a great signing for Bayern Munich says Ivica Olic
Ivica Olic has backed Ivan Perisic to make a great impact at Bayern Munich as the transfer is close to being completed.
Bayern Munich had to alter their transfer plans last week after Manchester City’s Leroy Sane suffered a serious injury. The German winger was Die Roten’s top transfer target, but a move this summer is now in doubt as he is set to be out of action for at least six months.
Ivan Perisic emerged as the new candidate for Bayern’s attack at the end of last week. The talks between the two clubs have concluded as the Croatian winger underwent his medical on Monday. Perisic comes out to be a strange signing for Die Roten due to his age. The Croatia international will be 31 next year.
However, Ivica Olic has no doubts about Perisic’s talents and backs him to do well in Bavaria. Speaking to SportBild, Olic also insisted that Perisic’s work-rate will be a great asset for the Bundesliga champions. Olic also insisted that Bayern needs to sign more players to compete on all fronts.
"“Ivan Perisic is a very interesting man and a top reinforcement. He is a top professional who always pushes himself to the limit. He has tremendous quality, is fit and has huge experience. And a fine guy with a good character”“Bayern still needs to get good players. The squad is not good enough for the high demands of the club. If you’re in three competitions and important players are prone to injury, you need to have depth in the squad.”"

Apart from Perisic, Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Olic has backed Die Roten to sign the 33-year-old striker to provide competition to Robert Lewandowski. He believes that Bayern needs experienced players along with young players. Lewandowski has also repeatedly insisted that Bayern should try to sign a backup striker to improve the squad.
The Bavarians meanwhile have agreed to a loan deal with Inter Milan for Perisic. This is a shrewd move from Die Roten despite the inconsistent nature of performances from the Croatian winger. Perisic could be a stop-gap player for Bayern this season. They might resume the pursuit of Sane next summer to achieve their long term goals.
Along with Perisic, the Bundesliga champions should also consider signing a young winger this season. The German club has been recently linked with Steven Bergwijn and Dani Olmo. One of these two young players will help in improving the depth of attacking department at Bayern Munich.
Olic has also urged Die Roten to protect Niko Kovac after a difficult first season at the club. Kovac managed to win Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, but there were doubts about his future at the club throughout the season. Moreover, Bayern was heavily linked with different managers whenever there were poor results.
