Jann-Fiete Arp is determined to succeed at Bayern Munich
After a fruitful pre-season tour, Jann-Fiete Arp is determined to taste success at Bayern Munich.
Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard are widely considered as the major summer signings made by Bayern Munich this summer. However, in reality, there have been three arrivals in Bavaria this summer. The signing of Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburg didn’t grab headlines but has the potential to be one of the shrewd buys this summer.
Arp was eager to join Bayern last summer, but the two clubs couldn’t agree to a transfer fee. Despite an underwhelming season with Hamburg, Arp remains one of the best young talents in Germany.
Arp returned early from vacations to be in top shape before the pre-season tour. He trained with the reserves team in Austria before joining the main squad in Saebner Strasse. In an interview with Bundesliga’s official website, Arp admitted that he is determined to fulfill his potential at Bayern Munich. The German forward also insisted that the experience to play for Die Roten has been magical.
"“I joined Bayern at 19 and I still have many things to improve in all areas,”“I don’t have a specific plan and I think it’s difficult. You never know how far you can go but as a young player what I want to do is use my full potential. What I need to work on here is the speed of thought and action. The speed here requires a lot of getting used to and that’s the first thing I need to focus on to be successful here.”"

The 19-year-old striker showed glimpses of his talent in the three friendlies during the pre-season tour. Arp wants to stay at Bayern this season instead of going out on loan this summer. He will not play regularly in the first team, but the prospect of training with the likes of Robert Lewandowski is more appealing for him.
The German forward is likely to be involved with the Bayern Munich II team whenever he is struggling to get minutes with the first team. This season will eventually help him to continue his development and adapt to the demands of a top club such as Bayern.
Arp’s versatility can work in his favor. The German striker can also be a wildcard option to play the role of backup striker next season. Lewandowski has urged the club to look for a new striker so that his workload is managed properly next season. The chances of signing new striker are looking bleak as the Bundesliga champions are currently focussing on signing a winger and holding midfielder.
Bayern Munich is set to play their final friendly game next week as they are set to host Fenerbahce in Audi Cup. The Bavarians will kick off their season against Borussia Dortmund in DFL Supercup on August 4. Arp will be involved in the squad for this game if Bayern fails to sign a winger by that time.
