Jann-Fiete Arp wants to play for Bayern Munich next season instead of going out on loan this summer.

Bayern Munich is looking to overhaul the first-team squad this summer. The Bundesliga champions are keen on signing younger players after facilitating departures of various veteran players. Jann-Fiete Arp has been one of the three summer signings Bayern has completed till now.

The German forward was heavily linked with a move to Bavaria last summer but he ended up staying at Hamburg. Arp is currently training with the Bayern Munich II squad in Austria to get his fitness up before joining the first team for the pre-season tour next week.

The German striker has been linked with a loan transfer away from Die Roten this summer. However, the 19-year-old forward is eager to be involved with the first team at Bayern next season. Speaking to Sky Sports, Arp admitted that he is looking forward to training with world-class players and stay at the club beyond this summer.

"“To be able to watch a Lewandowski as a striker, to learn from it – these are things you can dream of for years, that I enjoy now may, I’m looking forward to it enormously. ”“For me, I’m currently looking at the benefits of being here. The training is of extremely high level and my teammates would help me. I think the people here see it similarly”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Arp endured a torrid season with Hamburg after not being able to join Bayern last summer. The German striker is still considered as one of the top talents in the country, though. He can operate anywhere across the front three but he is at his best in a central role.

The former Hamburg striker will be a squad player at Bayern next season. He might gain some valuable experience during training with the first team. However, the teenager currently needs regular gametime to fulfill his high potential. The competition for places in attack will become even more intense if Bayern is able to sign a world-class winger. The 19-year-old forward will then have to settle for a role in the reserves team and few cup outings for the first team.

There is no doubt that Arp will be on the plane to the United States next weekend. He will have to impress Niko Kovac in training and friendlies to confirm his place in the squad for next season. Arp should be aiming to get some first-team action after a difficult year with Hamburg and a loan move currently looks the best solution for all parties.

Bayern meanwhile can grant Arp’s wish of staying at the club by utilizing him as a backup striker. Robert Lewandowski has urged the German club to sign a striker to manage his workload next season. Arp can be the ideal candidate for this role as he will get a decent amount of gametime and Bayern will be able to provide sufficient rest to Lewandowski.
