The former Bayern Munich striker backs the club hierarchy to sign top talents in order to challenge for every trophy next season.

Bayern Munich has been struggling in this summer transfer window. The Bundesliga champions are yet to address the problem positions in the squad. Die Roten generally do the majority of transfer business before the pre-season but they have failed to do it this summer.

The club hierarchy has been heavily criticized for the lack of signings this summer. Uli Hoeness expressed his frustration when he was recently questioned about the transfers. Hasan Salihamidzic has endured a lot of criticism in his brief stay at the club. The scrutiny will increase for him if the German club fails to make big signings this summer.

Sandro Wagner has jumped in the defense of the Bayern chiefs. The former Bayern striker told SportBild that he is confident that Die Roten will improve the squad. However, he also expressed his disappointment regarding the departure of Mats Hummels.

"“You should simply trust Kalle, Uli, and Brazzo and let them work in peace. Bayern have not been that bad for the past 30 years.”“The only thing that worries me a bit is that Mats now plays at Dortmund. Personally, I do not like that at all, but that’s just my opinion as a Bayern fan.”"

Bayern aggressively sorted out the defensive problems in the squad. The club completed the transfers of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard before the end of last season. It was expected that Die Roten will continue this approach and get the deals done quickly.

The German club has publicly declared their interest in signing Leroy Sane from Manchester City. However, the deal is looking complicated day by day as Sane reportedly wants to stay in the Premier League. Bayern will also struggle to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi after having multiple bids rejected in January and this summer. The teenager is now reportedly close to signing a new deal at Chelsea.

Bayern faced disappointment in their pursuit of signing Rodrigo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard ignored interest from Bayern and decided to join Manchester City. Niko Kovac has been vocal about the need of having a world-class number six. It will be interesting to see who Die Roten target to fill this role in midfield.

The Bundesliga champions still have time on their side to complete the signings. However, the transfer fees will get higher as the deadline day comes closer.  Die Roten might even get priced out in the deals for the alternative targets. The wait will be definitely worthwhile if the Bavarians manage to add a world-class winger and midfielder to the squad before September 2.
