Gareth Bale has been linked with Bayern Munich lately but the player’s agent has insisted that there have been no talks with the German club.

Bayern Munich is expected to make major changes to the squad this summer. The Bundesliga champions are eager to build a squad that can compete for major trophies in present and future. Die Roten have already splurged more than €100 million to address the defensive problems.

After sorting the defensive issues, the German club is focusing to add quality and depth in the attacking department. Bayern has been linked with numerous players in last one year as Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery were certain to leave the club this summer.

Gareth Bale was the latest forward linked with a move to Bayern this summer. The Sun in England reported that Die Roten are ready to sign the Welsh winger on loan from Real Madrid this summer. There was no talk about a permanent move in this report as Real Madrid desperately wants to offload the former Tottenham Hotspurs forward.

More from Bayern Strikes

However, Gareth Bale’s agent has quickly denied this story. The player’s agent Jonathan Barnett told ESPN that these reports have no substance in it. Bale has been insisting in the last few months that he wants to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place in the starting eleven. Zinedine Zidane is reportedly not interested in keeping Bale, even more so after signing Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

The talk about a move for Bale doesn’t make sense for Bayern. He has struggled with injury problems in the past few seasons and his wage demands would shatter the club’s wage structure. Moreover, Bale has also regressed as a player and at the age of 29, it is highly unlikely that he will be back to his best.

Bayern Munich have previously insisted that they will focus on signing young players rather than spending big on star players. The club’s strong interest in the likes of Leroy Sane and Timo Werner shows that the club wants to acquire some of the best young players in Europe.

The German champions are currently struggling to get the primary transfer targets. Sane is yet to give a green light to a move to Bayern while RB Leipzig also wants a big fee for Werner despite the player having only one year deal left on his current contract. It will be a huge surprise if Bayern decides to make a move for Bale even if they fail to land Sane or Werner.
