Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

There have been some serious questions raised about Bayern Munich’s defense this season. They have conceded cheap goals on a consistent basis, resulting in several poor results in the Bundesliga.

The Bavarians are set to address this problem by bolstering their defensive options for next season. Die Roten have already confirmed the signing of Benjamin Pavard for next season, but they are ready to add more players in the defensive department.

There have been numerous reports in recent months linking various defenders with a move to Munich. Most of these link the German champions with moves for central defenders, such as Lucas Hernandez or Matthijs de Ligt, but some suggest the Bavarians could also be in for another full-back.

More from Bayern Strikes

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the latest defender to be linked with a move to Bayern. According to England’s Sky Sports, Bayern Munich are hoping to buy Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old right-back has been a standout performance for Crystal Palace this season and is attracting suitors from all across Europe.

Wan-Bissaka was drafted into Palace’s squad midway through the 2017-18 season. Since then he has taken massive steps towards becoming one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old is very good at winning duels against fast wingers and has an incredible tackle success rate. His contribution in the final third is not high, but with experience he can improve that aspect of his game.

The English full-back has been tied down to a long contract at Crystal Palace, and his current deal is set to expire in 2023. Bayern Munich will most likely have to pay a world record fee for a full-back to sign Wan-Bissaka. There is likely to be a bidding war for the young defender, as many of the Premier League’s top clubs are also reportedly interested in him.

Bayern Munich are set to release Rafinha in the summer, so they might try to sign another full-back. However, Benjamin Pavard can also fill in at right-back if needed. Die Roten are also actively pursuing the signing of Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid, who can also play at left-back if needed. Bayern are unlikely to blow a lot of cash for a back-up right back, and a move for Wan-Bissaka will only make sense if Niko Kovac decides to move Joshua Kimmich permanently to midfield.
