Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso, out injured for the next several months, is reportedly on Paris Saint-Germain’s shopping list.
The German champions primarily focused on selling players rather than bringing them in during this past transfer window. Bayern Munich particularly looked to reshape their midfield department, selling veterans Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Rudy to make room for newcomer Leon Goretzka and back-from-loan Renato Sanches.
The reshaping of the squad will continue next summer, as Bayern will try to replace older players with younger ones. The wing department, in particular, will be a main focus for the Bavarians, who will look to find replacements for the aging Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
Paris Saint-Germain were heavily linked with numerous Bayern players this past summer transfer window. The French giants eventually succeeded in signing Juan Bernat on deadline day, despite missing out on both Jerome Boateng and Renato Sanches. According to a report in Calciomercato.com (via Le10Sport), the Parisians hope to play a key role in Bayern’s transfer window next summer as well and are prepared to make a move for French midfielder Corentin Tolisso.

There’s an air of uncertainty around the club’s midfield department, as their key man Adrien Rabiot is holding out from any contract negotiations. Rabiot is set to be a free agent next summer and Bayern Munich are also reportedly one of the interested clubs in him. According to the report, PSG are pondering a move for Tolisso in order to replace the departing Rabiot.
Tolisso joined Bayern Munich just last year from Lyon for a club record fee of €41. 5 million. He adapted to the new league and club seamlessly. The Frenchman enjoyed a fine debut season, scoring ten goals across all competitions. Tolisso also enjoyed a brilliant summer, as he was part of the French squad which won the World Cup in Russia.
Bayern Munich were expecting an even better season from Tolisso this year. However, he ruptured his ACL in the fourth Bundesliga game of the season and is expected to be out for at least three months. He should be able to feature some toward the latter stages of the season, but will no doubt find it difficult to get back to his pre-injury form.
The World Cup winner is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Europe. It was a massive blow for Niko Kovac when he was ruled out for such a long time. Tolisso is also happy in Munich and his contract with the club expires in 2022. It will take an insane offer from PSG for Bayern to even consider it next summer. Even still, it’s hard to imagine the Bavarian giants letting him go or him wanting to leave.
The Bavarians might consider selling another midfielder next summer, though. Thiago Alcantara was heavily linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid this past transfer window, but no concrete offer was presented for him. Javi Martinez, meanwhile, is set to turn 31 next season and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him make a return to Spain. Corentin Tolisso is part of Bayern’s long term plans, though, and it’s almost impossible to imagine him leaving the club anytime soon.
