Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness says his club will not move for an attacking player to fill in for the injured Kingsley Coman.

Bayern Munich suffered a significant blow in their Bundesliga opener against Hoffenheim when Kingsley Coman suffered a ligament tear above his ankle. The Frenchman will be sidelined for a minimum of three months. The German champions find themselves short in attack now, with Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Serge Gnabry the only traditional wingers fit.

There were reports in Germany on Sunday suggesting that Julian Draxler could join Bayern before the deadline day. Uli Hoeness quickly dismissed these reports on Monday, though. Sepaking to the media (via Transfermarkt), Hoeness affirmed that his club will not make a move for an attacking player before the transfer window closes.

"“We don’t sign a player for just three months.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Draxler’s agent also quickly addressed these rumors with Sport1. He insisted that his client is happy at Paris Saint-Germain and not thinking about a transfer right now. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also insisted that the club will trust their current corps of attacking players rather than turn to the market to make an emergency purchase. Veteran duo Robben and Ribery will become significant players right now, as Serge Gnabry is also injured at the moment.

Though the Bayern hierarchy haven’t completely ruled out any signings before the summer window closes, it will be a big surprise if the German club sign someone. They might make a move for Benjamin Pavard if Jerome Boateng joins PSG, however. A move to the French capital could still be on the cards for Boateng. Representatives from both of the clubs have reportedly met in secret within the past week.

PSG are also rumored to be interested in signing Juan Bernat. His departure seems more likely than Boateng’s. Bayern hope to cash in on Bernat before he enters the final year of his contract. The Spaniard was excluded from Bayern’s squad against Hoffenheim and doesn’t look to be a big part of Niko Kovac’s plans for the season.

Bayern were already able to offload Sebastian Rudy in this transfer window. Like Bernat, there was no room for Rudy in Kovac’s plans. The holding midfielder completed his transfer to Schalke on Monday.

Kovac’s wish of a smaller squad than the one Bayern had last season looks to have been granted. The Croatian manager will have to make slight modifications to his tactics after the cruel in injury to Coman, but he should be able to safely navigate the next three months. Alphonso Davies will provide further reinforcements in January, but the club will be able to make significant moves in the transfer market next summer when Robben and Ribery should be retired.
