Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness sheds light on his club’s transfer plans for the remainder of this summer and the next.

The summer transfer window in Germany is set to close at the end of this month. Bayern Munich have been quite relaxed this summer, as they haven’t made any big additions to the squad. The Bavarians have welcomed Serge Gnabry back from a successful loan spell while Leon Goretzka has joined on a free transfer from Schalke. Alphonso Davies, meanwhile, was signed to a contract that goes into effect in January.

While talking to Sky Sports, president Uli Hoeness admitted that Bayern could invest heavily next summer. The German champions are trying to raise money this summer by selling the fringe players. Arturo Vidal has already joined Barcelona, and the club is prepared to offload at least one more player. Sebastian Rudy, who has been given permission to negotiate with other clubs, could be the next man gone. Hoeness further added that Bayern will not bargain over the transfer fees for their players.

"“At the moment we are collecting some money to maybe buy someone bigger next year.“Sebastian is a good player with a good character. He approached Hasan Salihamidzic, who gave him permission to speak to other clubs. Bayern always pay like a world champion and the others want to have our players in vain.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Rudy has been subject to a lot of transfer speculation in the past week. The midfielder is attracting interest from Schalke and RB Leipzig. He has reportedly held talks with RB Leipzig, as he is interested in completing a transfer to the Bavarians’ Bundesliga rivals. He was omitted from last two matchday squads, as Niko Kovac is fine with offloading the former Hoffenheim midfielder.

Hoeness also spoke about the prospect of selling Jerome Boateng this summer. Boateng has requested a transfer, and Paris Saint-Germain still remains a possible destination for the German international. The Parisians are unlikely to make a move for Boateng, though, after forking out a big fee for Thilo Kehrer earlier this week. It will be a huge surprise if Boateng leaves Bayern as there are no top clubs interested in him right now.

Bayern Munich are unlikely to bring any replacements for either Boateng or Rudy if they leave. Kovac is happy to have a smaller squad, and the departure of Rudy will present him a squad of 20 players excluding the goalkeepers. Thiago Alcantara is certainly staying as there have been no concrete bids for him in this transfer window. Bayern were reportedly ready to listen offers for the Spanish midfielder.

Bayern will be more active in next summer’s transfer window. They will be searching replacements for Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, who have probably signed their last contracts at the club. It will be a favorable outcome for all parties if they leave the club next summer. Moreover, Benjamin Pavard will likely also arrive next summer to help replace Boateng when he leaves. The Bavarians are following the right procedure in order to bring down the average age of the current squad.
