Four takeaways as Bayern Munich claim third consecutive Supercup
There’s no reason for Coman not to start
As I just mentioned, Kingsley Coman looked stellar at some points yesterday. His blistering pace and dizzying dribbling ability were too much for the Frankfurt defense to handle. But that’s nothing new; the Frenchman has always been fast and tricky.
Historically, the one thing Coman has lacked is an end product. Too often in the past we’d see Coman skin his defender only to misplace a pass or mishit a shot. Other times he’d hang on the ball just a bit too long, overeager to beat that one last defender for the perfect angle.

The Kingsley Coman we saw yesterday looks much more like the finished product. The 22-year-old now has several years of top level experience under his belt, and the maturity that has brought him is showing.
He’s undoubtedly Bayern Munich’s most complete winger and should be one of the first names on Niko Kovac’s team sheet. In a must win match, Coman should be a guaranteed starter on the wing.
His ability to play on either flank only adds to the argument. He can pair up with any of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Serge Gnabry or even Thomas Muller, and remain 100% effective.
So long as he stays fit, Coman should be a key player for the Bavarians this season.
