Polish forward Robert Lewandowski will reportedly try one last time to secure a transfer away from Bayern Munich in this transfer window.

Robert Lewandowski has reported for pre-season training at Sabener Strasse as his post World Cup vacation has come to an end. There has been much speculation surrounding the future of Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, but the club has always insisted that he is absolutely not for sale. The German champions are expecting him to play in the friendly game against Manchester United on August 5th at Allianz Arena and to continue in Bavaria throughout this season.

Not only have Bayern consistently dismissed rumors of Lewandowski leaving the club, he has also not made any public statement about demanding a transfer. According to Sky Sports in Germany, though, the Polish forward is set to make one last attempt to leave the club this summer. This report further adds that Lewandowski wants to speak face-to-face with Kovac about his plans to leave the club.

Lewandowski fired his agent midway through last season. He then hired Pini Zahavi, which further fueled the rampant speculation about his future at Bayern.

More from Bayern Strikes

Earlier this summer, Zahavi suggested that his client has told the club about his desire to leave. Bayern Munich’s chiefs responded to this statement by saying that the striker is not going to be sold for any fee in the summer window.

The Polish striker has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout 2018. He has always admired Los Blancos and admitted that it would be difficult to reject them if they came calling for his services.  Real Madrid have shown no concrete interest in Lewandowski this summer, however.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have also been briefly linked with a move for Lewandowski, and Manchester United is the latest club who has emerged as a possible destination for the prolific striker.

The former Borussia Dortmund man has been a key player for Bayern Munich since making the swap in 2014. He has scored more than 40 goals in each of the past three seasons. Amidst the influx of rumors suggesting he wanted out of Bayern, Lewandowski suffered a lot of criticism at the end of last season due to his poor performances in big games. The Polish forward reportedly wants more support from the club during such lean patches of form if he is to stay.

Lewandowski endured a poor World Cup, failing to score a single goal in the competition. The German reports suggested that there has been no concrete interest in the striker and he is expected to stay at Bayern Munich. Unless something drastic happens, Bayern are likely to keep hold of their star striker. Moreover, Niko Kovac is also eager to hold onto the Pole as he is a key part of his plans for next season.
